Days 2-4 Dallas is Crazy

The Wifi in our hotel is extremely difficult. This is why I have been unable to update for a few days. We haven't had the time to find free wifi anywhere else in town. So I'll just give you a summary of important events. Sunday was registration and opening ceremonies. We went to register and found that you can do/buy/marry anything debate but unfortunately no one cares for speech events. The Hyatt Regency was amazing and equally amazing was the scale of the tournament. We met Ms. Medlin, the Brentwood coach, and she gave us the low down on the tournament. She pretty much told us that this tournament is crazy and well the craziest part with the most contrevercy is "duo" I was asked if i was from Iowa several times when meeting people from around the counrty as I had mistakenly worn my "I corn Iowa" shirt. Following this we went to Six Flags over Texas, which we soon learned was the original Six Flags because they told us like 17 times. We went to the opening ceremonies thinkning that the National Forensics League would present us with something fabulous for making it to the tournament. We were sadly mistaken when sixteen "jazz-hand" dancers trotted on stage in their overly bedazzled red cowboy outfits. This fifteen minute show features songs like "if I can't go to heaven send me to Texas" and "Deep in the heart of Texas." The entire show was a big birthday party for six flags and big warm hug for the state of texas for be so gosh darn better than everyone. Moral of the story don't go to opening ceremonies, especially when their in Texas. Monday proved to be far different than either of us had expected. We did three preliminary rounds of duo. The representation is extremely wide here. All 50 states are here plus the country of Korea, which was suprising but extremely entertaining in competition. We have found that there is a new wave in forensics. Instead of "retarted" peices we have found that it is go gay or go home. Lindsay affectionately named a peice "Joe's a Homo" Today has been very interesting in that we did three more preliminary rounds and went to a gigantic pizza party tonight. 5000 people were expected tonight so there was many a pizza truck. They posted who broke into the next stage of semi's. Out of about 220 teams, 60 made it to semi's. We were pleasently shocked to find that we were one of them.

Dallas Adventure Day 1

We left early this morning around 7:45 instead of the expected 6:00 AM. Which was a blessing, let me just tell you. we have found that Texas is well......large. And the people of Dallas love to put neon lights on their buildings. Lindsay slept for most of the trip while I attempted to be comfortable. Thankfully I have brought Larry the Banana with us. I think we will have some luck. I will have pics for you as I have taken a few that are worth seeing however our hotel wifi is a bit to slow to handle uploading pics and I'm just plain tired. So I will find a Krystals or steal some internet from someone to bring you pics tomorrow.

Dallas Nationals Day -1

Lindsay came back from Camp Barnabas today exclaiming "I want to be a nurse!" Unfortunately for Lindsay she pretty much hyperventilates everytime she gives blood. As our trip is starting, Lindsay Adam and I went to the Andrew household to practice before the big tournament. It was a crazy time in which Chris Andrews wore a fun hat and Mr. Marshall, as we now call him, became Lindsay and I's kissing coach. He spoke from........... experience? Well it fine. We still have some more practicing to do but we are excited and ready. I will be posting pics hopefully everyday! Okay I have to get up in like five hours.

Welp,, it's over. I knew it would happen. Into the Woods is now officially finished. Things can now return to their normal boring state. I'm graduating in about thirty days. it makes me feel poopy. (unsure of my meaning) there are a lot of people in the world! I wish I wasn't all sixes and sevens. I want to cross the pond again.

I guess this is goodbye old pal

4 years. it is amazing how fast four years can fly by. it is even more amazing to think of how much i have changed in just four years. I really enjoyed this weekend despite the sickness and whatnot. Ravenwood placed 2nd overall at the Collierville tournament. I was ecstatic for everyone. I am really really thankfull to have had such a wonderfull high school experience. It just kindof sucks that you have to start all over again next year. oh Well!
